Osprey Rev 18 rucksack

The Rev 18 is an ambitious pack that offers a large array of features for regular trail runners… so many that I expected to find it overdesigned and fiddly in use. My assumptions were wrong. Once you’re used to its stylings it’s an appealing bag to use – and can carry enough gear for the longest of trails, but also tightly secure a light load such as a litre of water, some keys and a phone. On offer there’s three chest/hip straps, two hip belt zip pockets, easy access mesh side pouches, a sizeable main compartment, a handy top-access section, a front mounted and waterproof phone/GPS access pouch, rear adjustable bungees for excess items, and an excellent in-built 2.5litre hydration system. A favourite feature is the magnetic fixture for the hydration mouthpiece – which makes using and stowing it while in motion a thrill. To take so many features and combine them into a tightly designed 580g running pack is a great achievement. DA
