Light on the wallet and ultralight in the rucksack, you nevertheless get 100g of excellent quality hydrophobic down that lofts beautifully for maximum warmth. The water repellent treatment really comes into its own in micro down jackets – less warm than the traditional bulky duvet, this kind of garment is more likely to be worn in marginal, damp conditions, or sweated into, hiking on a cold day. The shell is the weightless but tough Helium 30. The hood is very simple and Lycra bound, bells and whistles having been skipped in favour of minimalism. The cut is generous, working well as an emergency layer to put on over everything else. It’s a great choice not only for smaller budgets but anyone looking to save a few grams on their winter kit. Weight 320g.
