As you can see, this is a small handaxe… so it’s no use for most outdoor sports! However, for fire preparation, I’ve yet to use a better small axe. It’s extremely well balanced, and a respectable weight of 500g; not so heavy that bushcrafters woudn’t be prepared to carry to camp, but heavy enough to baton 10inch logs effortlessly, using the natural swing of the tool. The handle is plastic but very grippy, and the boron steel head makes short work of roots, logs and I’m sure a good deal besides. This increasingly impresses me, the more I use it.
VERDICT: Just enough power and sharpness together in a perfect package.
BEST FOR: Bushcraft and home fire preparation.
