A new product to me from the maker of the excellent Nils trouser, so I was keen to take a look. The membrane is mTEX, much softer and less noisy than a Goretex offering. They have ¾ length zips down each leg for ease of access and ventilation, with (slightly fussy) Velcro fasteners to keep the fabric together if unzipped. They are mesh lined, with 2 zipped pockets and a waist that is partly elasticated, with adjustable, internal belt hoops. For me, these are more of a wear-all-day option. Waterproofness is good, breathability excellent and they are very comfortable, but the mesh means a lot of extra weight and fabric that can easily snag on footwear when taking on and off. I found them well suited to wet weather cycling and lower energy walking. The brand offer an amazing 61 sizes and if I were buying my own pair, I wouldn’t size up, but buy to fit with running leggings underneath. Weight on my scales, around 440g.
▶ Verdict: A comfortable and breathable weatherproof overtrouser.
▶ Best for: Cycling and easier walking in the wet.
