The storm is a 3-season shell jacket with all the bells and whistles you’d expect to find on a fully-fledged adult waterproof. Features wise, there’s almost too much to list: mesh lined (both hood and body), detachable and adjustable hood (which actually covers the head properly and doesn’t fall down), two zipped napoleon pockets, solid plastic zip backed up with both a front and a rear storm flap to keep the rain out, which along with the collar is fleece lined for comfort. The hem is adjustable, the cuffs are elasticated and the cut is roomy enough to sit a few layers underneath, which means it’ll work in winter or ski conditions too. My daughter has worn this consistently over the last six months and it’s been excellent in all weathers. The eco friendly, blue sign approved DWR finish is slightly ‘dimpled’ through lots of use, but this hasn’t meant a lack of waterproofness. It’s a two-layer shell, and breathability seems very good, too. It’s not cheap as far as kids apparel goes, but this is the best hardshell I’ve seen for really small people, and it’s nice to get some alternatives to pink for a girl, too.
VERDICT: Well designed, eco friendly hard shell that works as hard as they do.
BEST FOR: Walking and easy snowsports.
