This comfortable pack is streamlined but has some thoughtful features for the trail. The back is not adjustable, but it comes in three sizes, so you’ll need to ensure you choose the correct one. The pack is based around an aluminium frame and weighs 1.14kg. The padded straps and hip belt make it comfortable to carry heavy loads. You can only access the contents from the top of the bag, which can be tedious if something is at the bottom, but the larger pockets help to separate your kit. The three pockets are made from stretchy material which means they can accommodate large items. The front pocket is great for stowing layers and guidebooks and the side pockets can hold large drinks bottles or poles, fixed with the straps. The two entry points from the top and side of these pockets mean you don’t need to remove your bag to easily access the contents. The hip belt pockets are also a good size to fit snacks and larger electronic items, including smart phones or cameras. A particularly good feature is the removeable top pocket which can be switched for a single weather flap, ensuring the pack remains streamlined based on how full it is.
▶ Verdict: Comfortable and lightweight – as long as you check your back size.
▶ Best for: Multi day hiking where you want maximum space and low weight.
