The Traverse Trousers look very much like classic walking trousers, but are part of the ‘wash & wear’ range. They weren’t perhaps as crease-free as the Fusion T-Shirt was, but definitely a close second. I like the colour – well, black goes with anything. The trousers bead well and provide you with up to UPF 50+ protection from harmful UV rays – so they are ideal for rain or shine, no matter when your adventure is happening your legs are protected. The Traverse feature Craghopper’s SmartDry technology, which bonds a water-repellent treatment onto the fabric so that rain and spills simply run off. It certainly works admirably here. There are 4 pockets, of which 3 are zipped, and all of these are a good size. As with many walking trousers for women, the Traverse are low rise. Personally, I prefer high-rise trousers as it covers my stomach and makes me feel a lot less exposed and more comfortable about my appearance. That said, out of the many I have tried, I found these to be the most comfortable and definitely the ones I will choose to wear on my next exploration.
► Verdict: Easy to care for good all round trousers, providing the low-rise suits.
► Best for: All-weather excursions.
