The Omni-Heat silver discs on the inside take a bit of getting used to, but aside from the disco ball looks; it’s a clever way to reflect heat back to the body in cold climates. This synthetic (85% polyester 15% elastane) base layer is figure hugging and easy to wear under layers. There are thumb loops for pulling the long sleeves down over cold hands, and a good zip for venting when the heat is on. Flatlock seams are carefully positioned away from areas that could chafe. On test I found that with high intensity activities such as riding my bike or strenuous hiking I eventually experienced a build up of sweat that wouldn’t dissipate.
VERDICT: A warm all rounder, but not cutting edge moisture management.
BEST FOR: Moderately intense cold weather activities such as walking and skiing.
