This 100 litre holdall is a great size for longer trips. The main compartment is really spacious and there is an end pocket to separate key items as well as a mesh pocket in the lid. If your gear doesn’t fill it fully there are compression straps on the side to reduce the bag’s bulk. There are two detachable and padded shoulder straps, which mean you can carry it like a rucksack over long distances, but then stow the straps for flights. The fabric is strong, durable and water resistant and it’s already survived several expeditions and flights keeping my kit protected inside. Once your trip is over the bag folds away into the end pocket, along with the detachable straps, making it less bulky than standard holdalls when storing it at home.
► Verdict: The perfect combination – large for travelling, small for storing at home.
► Best for: Any multi-day trips where you want some versatility.
