Bamboo has good sustainability credentials, as fibres go: it requires little water and thrives without fertilisers or pesticides; it also grows super-fast and yields the same volume as cotton from 10% of the land area. What’s more, this is a lovely British brand with great ethics and customer service. This top has a looser fit, for those who don’t want to ride head-to-toe in skintight Lycra. The material is extremely soft (bamboo is great for those with sensitive skin and it doesn’t hold static) with great elasticity and good climate control — it always feels cool and blocks 98% of UV. The concealed zip pocket in the sleeve is ideal for a bit of cash, a tissue or car key. It’s a really useful all-round outdoor top, which layers well and the long, stretchy sleeves are great for cycling. The only negative I can think of is that it looks a little mumsy. If you find the price a little steep, it’s worth noting that Bam really slash prices when they have a sale.
▶Verdict: A really useful top, made from sustainable fabric.
▶Best for: Those looking for a looser, all-round sports top.
