The first thing to say about the Rammy 2 boxers is that they’re huge. There’s a luxurious quality to the 18.5 micron “itch free super fine” merino wool used exclusively in their build, whilst the natural stretch of the fabric and convenience of a fly add to the everyday usability. The long (below mid-thigh) length and relatively un-fitted cut were at first a little off-putting, however I’ve found that within a pair of outdoor trousers they actually tuck in well, rarely ride up and communicate a extremely high level of comfort, as well as breathable warmth retention. This has made them an excellent choice for hiking and overnight mountain adventures in mild, cool or cold conditions. They also appear to be very hard wearing. It shouldn’t matter, but I would also like to praise the colourful hem, which features a natty design of alternately black/purple armadillo stencils. Very pleasing.
VERDICT: An expansive boxer of luxurious merino that won’t wear out quickly.
BEST FOR: Mild to cold weather hikers and mountain campers.
