The Cerium SL jacket is filled with minimal down insulation and keeps you very warm for its size. Arcteryx highlight that they have focussed on weight and packability over durability, and this was certainly noticeable during the tests. At only 205g it is super light, however, the fabric is so fine that a simple accident such as getting the fabric trapped in a rucksack hip belt buckle created a rip. There are two good sized pockets with reasonable zip pulls for use with gloves. It features elastic cuffs which fit gloves underneath. The jacket also has an adjustable hood with elastic hem and drawcord, which works well to fit to your face and keep out the wind. It comes with a small stuff sack which fits in your hand, and so it takes up very little space in your pack.
► Verdict: Worth the money if minimalism is important, but durability has been sacrificed for weight.
► Best for: Bigger budgets and small packs.
