The jacket fitted well across my chest and, despite it being a size larger than normal to accommodate my hips, it certainly didn’t feel baggy. The length was also good, the longer back means your rear stays protected, particularly when wearing a rucksack. At only 315g it is incredibly light, and I certainly didn’t notice the weight when stowed in my pack. The stand out feature was the hood which is helmet compatible and once adjusted fit perfectly keeping out the driving rain, thanks to the peak. The cuffs are also adjustable and a good size to roll up if you start to get hot. The main pockets were very low, meaning I had to undo the hip belt on my rucksack each time I wanted to use them. The smooth plastic zip pulls on the pockets were also difficult to use with wet hands. It would benefit from a two-way zip so you don’t have to undo the whole jacket to get to pockets on layers underneath. The main pockets were a good size and could fit a map snugly. The small inside pocket was useful for a smart phone. It did of course repel the rain and when not working too hard remained breathable. It is available in three lovely, bright colours, and black.
► Verdict: A good fit and lightweight, but for the price I would want better features.
► Best for: The rainy season…just after pay day.
